Now is the time to up-skill your skills and knowledge with a SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail. In this course, you’ll learn how to provide customer care, deal with the public, use retail technology, provide product and service advice, and handle money. You will be able to pursue work in various retail store settings, such as speciality stores, supermarkets, department stores and retail fast food outlets and working at this level you may be responsible for supervising other team members and monitoring day-to-day workplace operations. 36 hours of work placement (commencing after 4 weeks of class time to prepare student for their work placement) is included as part of this qualification.

Course Requirements

To attain the SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail, 13 units must be successfully completed comprising of 8 core and 5 elective units.

Qualification Pathway

This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diverse range of retail settings including specialty retailers, supermarkets, department stores and quick service restaurants.

At the completion of the SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail, individuals may undertake the following qualifications.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Individuals may undertake this qualification with little or no experience in the industry.

It is preferred that the students have obtained a minimum of a year 10 level School Certificate or equivalent and the will be required to undertake a LLN and achieve an exit Level 2 or above score within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in Reading and Numeracy, which will show that they have the capability to be successful in the course.

Kirana Colleges selection criteria will take into account various factors when deciding upon which students will be offered places in the program including;

  • The students’ needs and desired outcomes
  • The ability and commitment of the students to complete the course;
  • Eligibility requirements listed in the applicable National Training Package;
  • Students existing ability in the ACSF core skills, (learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy)

Students not meeting these requirements will be directed to more suitable qualifications or skill development programs.

Work Placement

Participants must undertake a minimum of 36 hours (commencing after 4 weeks of class time to prepare student for their work placement). This work placement must be recorded in a work placement log book. A Kirana Trainer/Assessor will visit participants in the workplace to assess the skills required in this qualification.

Queensland Certificate 3 Guarantee – for students residing in Queensland

Funding for this qualification may be available through the Certificate 3 Guarantee, a subsidised training program offered by the QLD Government. Certificate 3 Guarantee funding for this qualification is available to eligible students through Kirana Colleges Registered Training Organisations: Collaboration Learning Pty Ltd RTO ID 52247 and Insight Training Group Australia Pty Ltd RTO ID 32142.
