Get started in early childhood education and care with the CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, a nationally recognised qualification. Educators are expected to hold, or be actively working towards, an approved Certificate III level qualification. This course builds the skills to support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing in approved services such as long day care, preschool or kindergarten, family day care, and outside school hours care (OSHC). This course replaces the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Read what changed from CHC30121 to CHC30125.

To achieve the CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, you must complete 17 units of competency: 15 core units and 2 elective units.
You must also undertake a minimum of 160 logged hours of work placement in an Approved Service to complete a range of required workplace tasks.

It is preferred that students have completed a School Certificate or equivalent. The minimum age to enrol in this course is 16 years.
Learners who are under 18 at the start of the course require consent from a parent or guardian, who must sign the enrolment forms. For these students, Kirana Colleges teachers will correspond with parent(s) or guardian(s) regarding the learner’s progress.
Before commencing work in this field, students will be required to complete relevant screening checks in the state or territory where they will be undertaking placement or employment. This may include a Working with Vulnerable People check and/or a National Police Check (requirements vary by state or territory).
Important note: Learners under 18 who begin working as educators in an education and care service while studying, or after graduating, cannot work alone. They must always be supervised by an educator who is over 18 years old (Regulation 120). It’s important to discuss staff ratios and supervision requirements with potential employers.
