1. What are the conditions of the work placement commitment?

To ensure we can uphold our three-week placement commitment, students must:
Attend all scheduled interviews
Choose from one of the three placement options provided

Our work placement commitment may no longer apply if all placement options are declined or interviews are missed.

We aim to arrange placements within 20km of your home*. However, for students in regional or remote areas, placements may take longer to secure or may be located further away to support timely course completion.

*Placement availability depends on your location, industry demand, and course requirements. In some cases, additional travel or wait time may be needed. Additional fees may apply if placement options are declined or interviews are missed.

3. What support is available if I'm unable to find my own
placement during my course?

Thanks to our Industry Pathways Team and our partnership with SkilTrak, if you’re unable to secure your own placement, we’ll work with you to find one that meets your course requirements, usually within 20km of your home*. Our goal is to ensure every eligible student has access to real-world training opportunities to support timely course completion.

4. If I already work in the industry, can I complete my work
placement with my current employer?

Yes, absolutely!
If you’re already employed in a relevant role, you may be able to complete your work placement with your current employer. Your trainer will assess and approve your workplace to ensure it meets the course requirements and that you’ll receive the right level of support.

5. Why is work placement important?

It’s your chance to turn learning into doing.
Work placement allows you to apply the skills and knowledge gained in your course in a real-world setting. It’s a great way to build confidence, gain practical experience, and boost your employability in your chosen industry.

6. How long does it take to arrange a work placement?

As little as three weeks!
Thanks to Kirana Colleges’ Work Placement program, we aim to secure your placement within three weeks*. To help us meet this timeline, we encourage you to:
Attend scheduled interviews
Be open to the three placement options we provide

We aim to find opportunities within 20km of your home, but please note that in regional or remote areas, it might take a little longer to find the right fit.

7. What if I’m not happy with my work placement?

We’ll work with you to find a better fit.
If your placement isn’t meeting your expectations or course requirements, let us know. Our team will assess the situation and, if needed, help arrange an alternative placement that better suits your needs and goals.

8. Is the work placement mandatory to complete my course?

Yes, for most courses.
Many of our nationally recognised qualifications include mandatory work placement hours to meet industry and accreditation standards. It’s a vital part of your training and ensures you graduate with hands-on experience.
