Social Inclusion Week – Value of a Community Services qualification

It’s Social Inclusion Week from 23rd November – 1st December! Celebrate with a course in the Community Services sector!

Social Inclusion Week was created by Dr Jonathon Welch AM to help ensure all Australians feel included and valued, giving everyone the opportunity to participate fully in society. Social Inclusion Week is celebrated in Australia this year between 23rd November – 1st December, and its theme is Collaborate, Connect, and Celebrate. It’s about connecting with local communities, workmates, family, and friends to build relationships and networks, addressing isolation and exclusion by supporting people who may be unable to help themselves.

The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health qualification is an exceptionally rewarding path to take, allowing you to help those suffering from mental health issues and use your compassion and skills to help them build a better life for themselves. On successful completion of CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health, you may be able to obtain employment in a range of community contexts such as community-based non-government organisations; home-based outreach; center-based programs; respite care; residential services, rehabilitation programs; clinical settings; or supporting people in employment.

The CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities. You will support people to make changes in their lives to improve personal and social well-being and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. You may also undertake case management and program coordination. With an expected growth of 25.2% by 2026, this industry is seeing rapid expansion providing a wealth of opportunities. On successful completion of this qualification, you may be able to obtain employment in a range of community contexts such as a Case Worker or Manager, Community Services Worker, Family Support Worker, or Mental Health Support Worker amongst many others.

The CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services (Focusing on Mental Health) qualification reflects the role of community service workers involved in the rehabilitation and support of people affected by mental illness, psychiatric disability, and mental health promotion. You may also undertake case management and program coordination. With an expected growth of 25.2% by 2026, this industry is seeing rapid expansion providing a wealth of opportunities. On successful completion of this qualification, you may be able to obtain employment in a range of community contexts such as a Community Services Worker, Mental Health Intake Officer, Mental Health Outreach Worker, or Program Coordinator/Manager amongst many others.

The Dual CHC52021/CHC51015 Diploma of Community Services & Diploma of Counselling qualification reflects the role of counsellors, who work with clients on personal and psychological issues using established counselling modalities. They use communication, micro-counselling, and interviewing skills and draw on varied counselling therapies to assist clients. You will work in defined and supported counselling roles in established agencies. The industry is expected to grow up to 27,800 workers by 2026 equating to a future growth of 14.2%. On successful completion of this qualification, you may be able to obtain employment in a range of community contexts such as a Community Support Worker, Counsellor, Mental Health Outreach Worker or Team Leader amongst many others.

On successful completion of this qualification, you may be able to obtain employment in a range of community contexts such as a Community Care Worker, NDIS Support Worker, Neighbourhood Centre Worker, or Residential Support Worker amongst many others.
